Remember when it snowed a couple weeks ago? Ah, the memories…

The Moon

On the lovely Saturday that we had this past weekend, John and I took a drive out to Quabbin Reservoir, where we took a nice hike to Goodnough Dike. The view was spectacular, particularly as the sun set and the moon took over. So I pulled out the 300mm zoom to see what I could do!

The Cape Cod Gull

This past weekend, my husband and I went to Provincetown for our anniversary. I did not pack my backup battery, so didn’t get a whole lot in the way of photography, but I did manage to capture some of those iconic Cape Cod pictures. First, I present The Cape Cod Gull.

Autumn Light

I visited Tower Hill Botanic Gardens today with my dad and Ethan. I’ve been meaning to go, and I wasn’t disappointed! I can’t wait until all the color is out, and John and I can go back for a proper hike.

Before Turning Around

John and I visited Ithaca for the first time this weekend. I went to college there, and I really love that place. We didn’t have much time to spend, so we went to Buttermilk Falls State Park, one of the first places I went to myself. We hiked about 1/3 mile up the gorge trail, and got to here before turning around. Who wouldn’t love this place?

Washington Monument at Sunset

John and I have returned from our trip to Washington DC, which seemed a lot less crowded than last year. The Washington Monument was closed for safety after the unusual earthquake around DC on August 23rd, so at least it made sense that there wasn’t anyone there. Though I did notice while working on this one that I happened to catch John as he was taking pictures himself.

The sunset is mostly real…I did do a little tweaking of the colors in a new layer, then did a Linear Dodge blend. It was quite dramatic, so that top layer is set to 70% opacity.

What?! Another self-portrait in the same month? Well…yes…

Extremely Toxic

Conversation between my friend Bella and I, as she is looking at pictures I took at her farm:

Bella: Where did you find those?
Me: Near the goats.
Bella: Did you touch those?
Me: No, just took pictures.
Bella: Oh good. Those are highly toxic. Good for migraines, though.

Of course, I also forget what they’re called…
