Aww…Here’s my pup, Goldie. She was a good dog.

First, let me say I’m a dog person. And I have four cats living in my house right now.

When I was growing up, we had a couple cats before we got Goldie, our lab/collie mix. These cats were…mean. Or I was a child. Or both. One of the best memories I had of them was that they used to hide under the kitchen table and jump out at me when I got up in the middle of the night. Short nightgowns and bare legs don’t really stand a chance against cat claws, let me tell you.

But then we got Goldie, and suddenly I had a fuzzy best friend. And she was the Most Awesome Dog Ever. Don’t get me wrong, the cats here are all awesome in their own right, but there’s one thing that they lack that I really appreciated in Goldie: a sense of guilt.

Let’s say Goldie attacked the trash can in the middle of the night because there was a steak bone or something in there she really wanted. Sure, she’d tear the trash apart to get what she wanted, but then she’d have the guilt. She’d come to see you, head down, tail between her legs, and those puppy dog eyes. If she could talk, she’d say, “Hey there… I did something really bad… I really love you though!!”

Puffy, one of the cats, doesn’t really have the guilt thing down. This morning, as I was making Ethan oatmeal, I had a bit of milk set aside to cool it down when it was done. I turned my back a little too long, heard a crash, and there was milk all over the floor. Ethan guarded while I cleaned up. I started pouring a little more milk out, and found Puffy sitting on the stool next to me. He looked up at me with those kitty eyes and seemed to say…

“I can has turkey now?”

I don’t usually do LOLcats, but sometimes, they just scream out to you…

Okay, so most of the time you’re not going to meet a turtle with a personality. BUT! At my company picnic, they had a little animal tent, and outside were these turtles. And this guy must have been a cat trapped in a turtle body. For serious. He was running (!) all around his bucket, seeking out my hand, and wanted to be pet.

No wait, I guess that makes him a dog trapped in a turtle body.

This is one of those pictures I’m not entirely happy with, but there’s stuff I learned from it. I really liked how Faygo’s head came out, but she’s wrapped herself up in a light blue blanket, which turned out to make a really horrid background for this treatment. But I liked the head! This is one of the few pictures I cropped, if only ’cause I blame the hard time I had with it on the fact that it was a kind of lousy picture. Lesson: it doesn’t hurt to get more context with your pictures.

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter Weekend. Or a … lovely Passover? Does one have a lovely Passover? I was celebrating the coming of spring…just in time for it to drop down to freezing at night. Again. But hey, at least it’s not snowing here in Massachusetts.

I had a nice time with the family, and visited this cat. Her name is on the tip of my tongue, but, of course, I can never remember it. *facepalm*
