New Lens!! :D
Posted in Animals, Picture on 02/26/2010 12:00 pm by ifferjennSquee!! For my birthday, John got a new lens for the camera: a 55mm-250mm one I’ve been coveting. I heart the macro picture, but wanted something more…like something I could use to take pictures from across the room. To demonstrate, instead of taking one of the couple pictures I took from across the room, I actually got a really good shot of what I could do with a long lens like this.
That is one of our cats, Puffy. He’s sitting on a cooler (across the room!), and between us is one of our dining room chairs, which has a heart cutout. Completely would not have been able to do this with the standard 18mm-55mm lens we have now. And this was only at 100mm. I could have taken a “closer” picture!
Jenn-ism #6
Posted in Jenn-ism on 02/22/2010 06:37 pm by ifferjennSo I have yet ANOTHER head cold. This one started in my chest and moved up, though.
Which just leaves me to wonder: If this is what happens to the good French whores, what happens to the bad ones?
New Old Bikes
Posted in Man-made, Picture on 02/20/2010 04:43 pm by ifferjennThis past fall, John and I lucked into the tail end of a yard sale, and wound up with these two bikes for $10. Total. Sure, they need a lot of work, but I’m kind of looking forward to the effort of it.
The yellow one in front is John’s. It is a Schwinn Collegiate Sport 10. The blue one behind it is mine: a Ross Eurotour. If anyone has more information on either, ‘twould be much appreciated!
Deliciousness!
Posted in Writing on 02/18/2010 07:49 pm by ifferjennI love having a good meal. Particularly meals where the deliciousness is inversely proportional to effort. Allow me to give you an example from my own dinner tonight.
1) Take a clove of garlic. Slice off the top and put in a small baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil and cover with aluminum foil. Put in a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.
2) Meanwhile, take a giant loaf of Syrian bread.
A note on Syrian bread. Here in Worcester, you would go to Bay State Bakery for these. Outside of Worcester, you’d probably want to find your own local Middle Eastern bakery. Good Syrian breads will get nice and crispy in the oven, which is what we’re looking for. Your big-brand pita pockets won’t work here.
3) Shread enough sharp cheddar cheese to just cover the loaf. When there’s about 10 minutes to go, slide the loaf directly onto the rack. Check after 5 minutes, though, as you’ll take it out as soon as the cheese is melted.
4) Top with hummus, the freshly roasted garlic, or whatever else piques your fancy!
I highly recommend the roasted garlic.
