Tomatoes!
Posted in Nature, Picture on 08/23/2009 08:59 am by ifferjennIn the beginning of July, I decided we needed a trash can with a lid. I went to the local hardware store by Ethan’s school, and along with the trash can, they were getting rid of their stock of sickly plants. I picked up this cherry tomato plant, since it looked to be the least sickly, and actually had some tomatoes on it. Now I’m doing backflips over it, since I’m actually going to be able to eat these!
This is less a “Look at my pretty picture” picture, and more of a “Look!! I’m growing food!!” picture. We’d like to expand our garden next year, so if you have any suggestions for small-garden foods, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Nice tomato plant! We used to have a bunch of fruit trees in our yard, but they all died or had to be cut down, minus our apple tree. If my dad doesn’t spray the apples, though, the deer and birds eat them all.
Let me know how your garden goes (or rather, how your garden “grows”)!

If I could get a fruit tree for a small amount of money (we’re renting), and that didn’t require tons of space, I would totally do that! We have two little patches that will be pretty good for gardening, but the rest of the lot is either paved or really overgrown. We could squirrel away some berry bushes or something, but we’ll have to wait on trees for now.
