Thursday Threesome: Comfort Foods

On the Thursday Threesome, I’ll choose a theme and describe three things that have to do with that theme. Currently, I’m having a pretty lousy week, what with receiving two really bad pieces of news on Tuesday. On a side note, if you can handle not getting more than one piece of really bad news in a day, I would recommend it. I’m still working on processing these changes.

But anyway! Comfort food is certainly in order.

  1. Pierogies: Pierogies are my newest favorite comfort food, introduced to me by John. What could be better? Starch-y dough surrounding starch-y potatoes that are mixed with cheese. The only thing I can think of that would be better would be making them myself. Which is high on my list of Life Goals.
  2. Spaghetti: This comfort food is very specific. It must be spaghetti, not some other kind of pasta. And the sauce must be my Dad’s sauce. There is just something so comforting about the actual action of twirling pasta, particularly as I am a little uncoordinated and have to twirl with a spoon and fork. And who doesn’t like their parents’ cooking best?
  3. Falafel: Since becoming a vegetarian, I’ve started experimenting more with food. One of my experimental trips was to the Falafel Palace in Cambridge. Soon after, John found a package mix of falafel that I could make at home. Thinking that it couldn’t be that difficult to make, I found a great recipe online that I’ve been using to make falafel from scratch.

Have an idea for a Thursday Threesome? Leave a comment, and I’ll see what I can do!
