Continuing to illustrate my creative process, such as it is, a little better. I took this picture while waiting for my car to be finished, and when I showed it to John, he suggested I cut out the bolts and do something with the background. Of course, I forgot what he mentioned I should do with the background, so I started playing around.
With the psd file I saved earlier, I ditched the idea of putting a color overlay over a black and white background and focused on the black and white background. I didn’t realize that there are presets on the Channel Mixer, so this one is the black & white with a blue filter. I liked the initial harsh look to it, which I amped up a little with increasing the contrast and decreasing the lightness. But, again, the bolts didn’t look right, so I deleted those layers, flattened it, and saved the jpg.

The next few days will illustrate my creative process, such as it is, a little better. I took this picture while waiting for my car to be finished, and when I showed it to John, he suggested I cut out the bolts and do something with the background. Of course, I forgot what he mentioned I should do with the background, so I started playing around.
The first thing I did was cut out the bolts. Then I copied the background, made the back one black and white, and started playing around with the color mixer on the foreground one. I liked it so much I wanted to keep it…but the bolts didn’t look right. Saved the picture as a psd, then deleted the bolt layers, flattened, and viola!

Another thing to see in Boston – Frogs: A Chorus of Colors exhibit at the Museum of Science. John and I really enjoyed it…Ethan got a bit antsy looking at the many cases of frogs. I think he was more interested in the Mythic Creatures next door. Boston MA

Part of a glass forest from the Dale Chihuly exhibit at the Rhode Island School of Design. Unfortunately, the exhibit closed in January, but I was lucky enough to get down to see it before it closed. Not only do I find his glasswork amazing, but he’s also got an eyepatch! Providence RI

I tend not to like winter, as everything just seems so grey and brown. But you do get the occasional nice day. Woburn MA

Friday was a pretty bad day for me. I woke up to an e-mail from Jeremy that Chewie wasn’t doing well. I went to the house to investigate, and he truly wasn’t. I had found out on Tuesday that he most likely had a brain tumor, and it seemed that the prednisone the vet gave us to perhaps help was hurting. Chewie couldn’t stand up, and was completely miserable. I made that last appointment for the vet, and John came with me to put Chewie to sleep. I am so thankful for John for being there, and for the vet who was truly sympathetic and seemed just as upset as we were. Afterwards, John and I took a ride, I had a nice nap, and we were able to tackle the evening. I will miss Chewie terribly…I was his person for a little over 10 years, and I could tell that I was his person. I will remember him playing fetch, talking for hours on end, and, of course, his complete Cat Attitude.
Rest well Chewie. I’ll miss you.
